Qualifications

• Public accounting audit experience
• Hands-on audit planning, risk assessment, workpapers & documentation
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and audit standards
• Experience with Not-for-Profit, Affordable Housing, LIHTC, HUD, Rural Development or similar compliance-driven environments preferred
• CPA certification encouraged and supported

Responsibilities

• Lead audit engagements from planning through completion.
• Develop trusted client relationships and serve as a reliable resource for business, audit, compliance and financial reporting needs.
• Coach, guide, and support staff while developing high-performing engagement teams.
• Address audit and compliance matters within Not-for-Profit and Affordable Housing sectors.
• Prepare and review audit workpapers in accordance with U.S. GAAP and firm standards.
• Support audit planning, risk assessment, testing, documentation and engagement execution.
• Manage multiple engagements, priorities and deadlines with strong client service.
• Work with Managers, Senior Managers, and Shareholders to gain leadership exposure.
• Maintain proactive communication with clients and internal team members.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and client service.

Our client is seeking an ambitious Audit Senior to join a specialized practice focused on Not-for-Profit and Affordable Housing clients. This opportunity offers the chance to take ownership of audit engagements from planning through completion, work directly with clients, mentor and support staff, and gain exposure to complex audit and compliance matters in mission-driven and highly regulated environments. Responsibilities of the position include:

• Lead audit engagements from planning through completion, helping keep projects organized, on track, and aligned with client expectations.
• Develop trusted client relationships and serve as a reliable resource for business, audit, compliance, and financial reporting needs.
• Coach, guide, and support staff while contributing to the development of high-performing engagement teams.
• Address audit and compliance matters within the Not-for-Profit and Affordable Housing sectors.
• Prepare and review audit workpapers in accordance with U.S. GAAP and firm standards.
• Support audit planning, risk assessment, testing, documentation, and overall engagement execution.
• Manage multiple engagements, competing priorities, and deadlines while maintaining a strong client service experience.
• Work closely with Managers, Senior Managers, and Shareholders, gaining exposure to the leadership and strategic side of the practice.
• Maintain proactive communication with clients and internal team members to keep engagements moving forward.
• Recognize opportunities to improve processes, enhance client service, and support team development.

Requirements of this position include:

• Public accounting audit experience with a solid foundation in financial statement audits.
• Hands-on experience with audit planning, risk assessment, workpaper preparation, and audit documentation.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and applicable audit standards.
• Experience serving Not-for-Profit organizations, Affordable Housing clients, LIHTC, HUD, Rural Development, or other compliance-driven environments is preferred.
• CPA certification, or active progress toward certification, is encouraged and supported.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines within a client-service environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, teammates, and leadership.
• An ownership mindset, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to coach, support, and develop staff while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
