One of our clients, a growing public accounting firm in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, is seeking a senior-level Audit Manager to join its team.
This is a highly visible, client-facing leadership position designed for an experienced public accounting professional who can independently manage complex audit engagements, lead teams, build strong client relationships, and contribute to business development.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience with U.S. public accounting, U.S. GAAP, financial statement auditing, team leadership, and client relationship management. This position offers an opportunity for long-term advancement toward a Director-level role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead audit engagements from planning through completion while ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
- Manage multiple client engagements, budgets, deadlines, staffing, and resources.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop audit staff and senior team members.
- Review financial statements, audit workpapers, supporting documentation, and audit findings.
- Apply U.S. GAAP and applicable U.S. auditing standards to complex client engagements.
- Identify accounting, financial reporting, internal control, and compliance issues and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for clients and develop trusted, long-term relationships.
- Communicate audit findings, recommendations, and financial insights clearly to clients and internal leadership.
- Provide technical guidance to audit teams on complex accounting and auditing matters.
- Assist with improving audit processes, methodologies, tools, and quality-control practices.
- Participate in staff development, training, and mentoring initiatives.
- Contribute to business development and client acquisition efforts.
- Develop and maintain a strong professional network within the DFW business community.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and support firm growth.
- Work closely with firm leadership on strategic client and business initiatives.
- Take on increasing leadership responsibilities with a clear path toward future Director-level advancement.
Required Qualifications
- Active CPA certification is required.
- 5+ years of experience with a U.S.-based public accounting or CPA firm; 5-10+ years of relevant U.S. firm experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing financial statement audit engagements.
- Strong and practical knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Strong understanding of U.S. auditing standards and financial reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing audit teams.
- Experience operating at a Senior Manager level or equivalent level of responsibility is strongly preferred.
- Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, budgets, and priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in an in-office/hybrid DFW environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Dallas-Fort Worth / North Texas public accounting experience.
- Established professional or client network within the DFW market.
- Demonstrated business development, networking, or client acquisition experience.
- Experience growing existing client relationships or developing new business.
- Experience working with highly visible or complex client engagements.
- Demonstrated readiness to progress into a Director-level position.
Important Candidate Considerations
This position is intended for a senior-level public accounting professional, not an early-career Audit Manager.
Candidates Should Have
- A current U.S. CPA certification
- Strong U.S. GAAP expertise
- Significant experience with a U.S.-based public accounting/CPA firm
- Strong client-facing presence and communication skills
- Leadership experience beyond simply performing audit work
- Interest and ability to contribute to business development and local relationship building
- Availability to work in-office/hybrid within the DFW area
International/foreign accounting credentials without a U.S. CPA will not meet the requirements for this position. IFRS-focused experience is not a primary requirement for this role.
