Qualifications

  • Current and valid CPA license.

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, GASB, GAAS, and Government Auditing Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of audit or review engagements across multiple client accounts.
  • Maintain ongoing client contact and knowledge of each client's business and control systems.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Keep the engagement Director or Partner informed of key developments and issues.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills and apply professional standards.
  • Ensure engagements are properly scheduled and staffed.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of the firm's audit approach.
  • Create and manage budgets for engagements and address overruns and change orders.
  • Anticipate problem areas and questions during engagements.
  • Review financial statements and client deliverables.
  • Direct, train, supervise, and review work by staff and seniors.
  • Support the firm’s business development efforts.

Overview

A progressive regional CPA firm is seeking an Audit Manager with a Non-Profit specialization to serve as a key liaison between firm leadership, clients, and professional staff. This role offers a fast track to Director, a reasonable work-life balance, and the opportunity to lead engagements while mentoring staff and helping grow the firm's client base.

What you'll do
  • Manage all phases of audit or review engagements across multiple client accounts simultaneously
  • Maintain ongoing client contact and develop thorough knowledge of each client's business and control systems
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Keep the engagement Director or Partner informed of key developments, identify potential issues, and recommend solutions
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills and apply professional and firm standards, including advisory capabilities
  • Ensure engagements are properly scheduled and staffed
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the firm's audit approach
  • Create, track, and manage budgets for assigned Assurance and Advisory engagements; investigate and explain budget overruns; identify change order opportunities
  • Anticipate problem areas and questions that may arise during engagements
  • Review financial statements and other client deliverables
  • Direct, train, supervise, and review work performed by senior and staff accountants
  • Participate in staff performance evaluations and periodic counseling
  • Support the firm's business development efforts
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • At least five years of experience in public accounting, specifically auditing non-profit clients
  • Current and valid CPA license
Preferred qualifications
  • Ability to lead a team and work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States, Standards issued by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, United States Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, and Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States
  • Cooperative and responsive to training, supervision, and constructive feedback
  • Ability to direct, review, and train staff, experienced staff, and seniors
