Job summary

Vrakas CPAs + Advisors is seeking an Audit Manager to join our downtown Chicago team. This in-person role requires leadership over audit engagements, close client interaction, and active staff development to support a diverse portfolio of entities.

Qualified candidates hold a CPA license with 5+ years in public accounting audits, and demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork. Local travel to client sites will be necessary.

Qualifications

• CPA license required or equivalent.
• 5+ years of public accounting audit experience.
• Strong teamwork and client interaction skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Industry experience in manufacturing, distribution, construction, technology, retail or services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee audit engagements, reviews, and compilations for closely held/for-profit clients.
• Train and develop audit staff and associates with hands-on client work.
• Consult with clients on accounting and business matters with direct interaction with controllers, CFOs and owners.
• Assist with accounting due diligence projects.
• Travel to meet firm and client needs as required.

The following responsibilities, opportunities, and requirements for this in-person position are as follows:

Responsibilities & Opportunities

• Oversee teams as they complete audits, reviews, and compilations. Vrakas clients are generally closely held/for-profit businesses with a variety of ownership structures, including family businesses, ESOP, and private equity
• Training and developing audit associates. You will also gain hands-on experience and training in various areas, working with our clients who compete in a wide variety of industries
• Consulting with clients on a variety of accounting and business matters. You will work directly with controllers, chief financial officers, and business owners during the term of the engagement
• Assisting with accounting due diligence projects
• Travel is expected, as needed, to meet firm and client needs

Requirements

• Certified Public Accounting license
• 5+ years of public accounting audit experience
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of client personnel in various industries
• The ability to respond to client and firm requests promptly, accurately, positively, and professionally
• Excellent written/verbal communication and collaboration skills
• Integrity within a professional environment
• Manufacturing, distribution, construction, technology, retail, franchise/dealership, or service industry experience is a plus
• Chicago-area location preferred; local client travel required
