BW&O CPAs is seeking a motivated Audit Manager to join our growing assurance practice and help lead the next evolution of AI-enabled audit delivery. Position Overview

The Audit Manager will lead audit and assurance engagements from planning through completion while developing strong client relationships, mentoring team members, and supporting technical excellence across the practice. This role is highly collaborative and ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting work, client interaction, team leadership, and operational improvement. The position also offers the opportunity to help lead the firm’s transition toward AI-enhanced audit methodologies and modern engagement workflows.

Key Responsibilities
Client & Engagement Leadership
  • Manage audit and assurance engagements from planning through issuance
  • Serve as a primary customer success manager for assigned clients
  • Build strong, long-term client relationships through proactive verbal communication and responsiveness
  • Coordinate engagement staffing, timelines, and workflow management
  • Help ensure engagements are completed efficiently and on schedule
Technical Review & Quality
  • Review workpapers, audit documentation, and financial statements
  • Research technical accounting and auditing matters
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and nonprofit reporting requirements
  • Support quality control initiatives and process improvements
Team Development & Leadership
  • Mentor and develop audit staff and seniors
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance
  • Help foster a collaborative, positive, growth-oriented team environment
  • Assist in coordinating work across local and global teams
Innovation & AI Transformation
  • Play a leadership role in the continued evolution of the firm’s AI-enabled audit methodology and workflows
  • Help refine and optimize how audit professionals collaborate with AI agents throughout engagement execution
  • Provide practical input into the design, implementation, and improvement of audit technology and automation processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve audit quality, efficiency, consistency, and team effectiveness through AI integration
  • Help staff adapt to evolving audit technologies and modern engagement approaches
  • Contribute to building scalable, forward-looking audit processes designed for the future of the profession
Qualifications
  • Active California CPA license required
  • Minimum 4 years of public accounting experience
  • Recent manager promotion or strong supervisor-level experience preferred
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations strongly preferred
  • Employee benefit plan audit experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and GAAS
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Interest in technology, innovation, and experience with AI-enabled workflows
  • Must reside within commuting distance of El Dorado Hills, CA
