We’re bringing together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world - for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities and the planet we all share.

In compliance with applicable laws, HSBC is committed to employing only those who are authorized to work in the US. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. as HSBC will not engage in immigration sponsorship for this position.

Global Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance to management and the risk and audit committees as to whether the framework of risk management, control, and governance processes, as designed and represented by management, is adequate and functioning. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join our team as Audit Manager - COO & Functions.

As an Audit Manager within the COO & Functions Audit team, you’ll help assess whether key risks are identified and managed effectively across a portfolio of businesses and functions. You will work with colleagues and senior stakeholders across the organization, applying sound judgement, constructive challenge, and a commercial understanding of the business.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Support the planning and execution of audit reviews in line with the HSBC Group Audit Methodology and Principles (AMP) and applicable professional standards
  • Assess whether governance, risk management and control frameworks are appropriately designed and operated effectively
  • Evaluate identified risks, audit conclusions, root causes and proposed management actions to ensure they are reasonable, evidence-based and proportionate
  • Draft clear, concise and well-supported audit issues that accurately reflect the evidence documented in audit work papers and explain the potential impact to the business or function
  • Ensure audit work is completed to a high standard, within agreed timelines and in accordance with relevant HSBC and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver continuous monitoring for a defined portfolio of businesses and functions through:
    • data analytics and thematic analysis;
    • regular meetings with key stakeholders;
    • participation in relevant risk and governance forums;
    • ongoing assessment of business and risk profiles; and
    • preparation of continuous monitoring reports to inform the Annual Audit Plan.
  • Maintain effective stakeholder relationships through regular bilateral engagement, informed challenge and constructive discussion of emerging risks
  • Keep current with business, regulatory, industry and technology developments that may affect the audit universe
  • Sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and contributing to the continuous improvement of audit practices and team effectiveness

We’re looking for someone who can combine strong audit and risk expertise with sound judgement, curiosity and the confidence to engage constructively with senior stakeholders.

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Proven experience in internal audit, risk management, internal controls or a relevant business function
  • A strong understanding of risks and regulatory expectations relating to payments, third-party management, account servicing and operational resilience
  • Experience assessing governance and control frameworks in a complex financial services environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand unfamiliar subject matter quickly and identify the issues that matter most
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and communicate difficult messages clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present persuasive, well-supported conclusions
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality work across concurrent reviews or projects
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development. A relevant qualification, such as Certified Internal Auditor, would be advantageous
  • The ability to work collaboratively, build trusted relationships and contribute positively to team objectives
  • A practical, accountable approach, with the drive to see work through and deliver outcomes within agreed timelines

As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities to ensure you have the right skills for today and tomorrow.
