State Auditor’s Office (SAO) invites eligible students for Audit Intern positions with Team Pullman in Spokane, WA. Interns assist on state and local government audits, collaborate with staff, and gain exposure to risk-based auditing.

Travel to audit sites is expected and internships offer flexible start lengths and a chance to join a diverse, inclusive team. Qualified candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, with sophomores encouraged to apply and some accounting

About Team Pullman:

Team Pullman offers a unique opportunity for team members to participate in a variety of state and local government audits, including accountability, financial statement, and federal grant compliance. The team is responsible for conducting the audits of more than 90 governments in Asotin, Garfield, Spokane, and Whitman counties, and for ensuring governments safeguard public funds, and follow state and federal laws and their own policies. These audits do require occasional daily and overnight travel to audit client locations. We perform audits of cities, counties, fire districts, school districts, higher education agencies, and more. Team Pullman’s largest audit client is the City of Spokane.

Some of what you will do:

We offer seasonal and year-round paid internships with our audit teams across the state. The start and length of internships is flexible. Travel to audit sites will be necessary.

This recruitment will be used to establish a pool of Audit Intern candidates. Qualified candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Eligible candidates will remain in the pool for three months and referred to our hiring managers as openings occur.

Interns work with our audit staff and perform audit tests, analyze data, communicate with entity staff, and provide support for more complex audit procedures. Interns may be involved in several small assignments or one large assignment over the course of the internship.

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Completed their sophomore year
  • Completed some accounting course work

OR

• One year experience in accounting - paid or unpaid
• One year of professional experience

OR

• Combination of accounting experience and school

AND

• Have strong computer skills
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills
