Job summary

Fannie Mae is seeking an Audit Director for Treasury and Capital Markets to lead risk-based audit coverage of pricing, trading, liquidity management, and related controls, ensuring regulatory compliance and strong governance.

You will manage a team of audit professionals, engage with senior leaders and regulators, and drive continuous improvement in control environments, leveraging extensive financial services experience and adherence to IIA standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in internal audit or risk management in financial services
• Deep understanding of trading products, market risk, credit risk and operational risk in capital markets and treasury activities
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to influence senior leaders and drive change across complex organizations
• Experience interacting directly with regulators
• People leadership experience including direct management of a team
• Shows curiosity and adaptability in learning and applying new technologies including AI
• Professional certification (CIA, CPA, or equivalent) or expected within a defined timeframe
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Audit Leadership: develop and execute a risk-based audit plan for treasury and capital markets activities; oversee planning, fieldwork, and reporting
• Risk and Control Assessment: monitor risk profile, identify emerging risks, and review controls across front, middle, and back-office functions
• Stakeholder Engagement: build relationships with senior leaders, regulators, and external auditors; communicate findings clearly
• Team Management: lead and mentor audit professionals; provide coaching and development
• Regulatory and Industry Expertise: stay current on SEC, FINRA, CFTC, FHFA, and II A Standards; ensure methodologies comply
