Job summary

Markent Personnel is seeking an Audit Director with a State and Local Government specialization for a fast track to Partnership in a Progressive regional CPA firm. The role offers a hybrid work environment with relocation assistance and opportunities to build client relationships and lead engagements.

You will oversee engagements, sign attestations as partner when required, and contribute to staff development. Travel to client sites and offices is expected.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting with at least 2 years in a senior manager role in the public sector.
• Experience auditing state and local governments (cities, counties, districts, charter schools, etc.).
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and a current CPA license.
• Willingness and ability to travel to client and firm locations.
• Experience conducting audits under GAAS, GAGAS/Yellow Book, and the Uniform Guidance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain contact with clients throughout the year and develop strong client relationships.
• Lead engagements as engagement partner or report to the engagement partner per firm policy.
• Sign attest opinions when acting as engagement partner.
• Oversee all phases of engagements to ensure compliance with accounting framework and firm policy.
• Identify important developments on client accounts and propose solutions after partner consultation.
• Ensure engagements are properly scheduled and resourced.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in governmental sector auditing.
• Oversee billing and collections according to firm policy.
• Supervise staff and provide on-the-job training; review work papers and reports.
• Participate in staff performance evaluations and coaching.
• Participate in recruitment and interviewing for Assurance and Advisory candidates.
• Develop new business through networking and client relationships; attend meetings with prospective clients.
• Maintain compliance with Firm-wide policies and procedures.
