About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Audit Director with deep expertise in the Real Estate industry to join a growing assurance practice. This leadership role involves overseeing key client engagements, guiding audit teams, and contributing to the strategic development of the real estate audit division. The Director will be instrumental in delivering high-quality audit services and supporting business development efforts within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple complex audit engagements involving REITs, private equity real estate funds, developers, owners, and property managers
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, delivering exceptional service and strategic insight
- Oversee all audit phasesplanning, execution, and reportingensuring compliance with professional standards and firm policies
- Apply real estate valuation methodologies, including discounted cash flows, direct capitalization, and sales comparables
- Interpret and audit complex real estate structures across various legal entities
- Independently research accounting issues and deliver sound technical conclusions
- Mentor and supervise audit teams, fostering technical growth and performance
- Review and approve financial statements, workpapers, and engagement deliverables in accordance with GAAP and GAAS
- Collaborate with leadership on client acquisition, growth strategies, and practice development
- Stay current on industry, regulatory, and technological developments
- Promote innovation in audit quality, efficiency, and client service
- Monitor engagement profitability and manage billing and collections
- Participate in talent development, internal training initiatives, and industry visibility efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting
- Active CPA license (required)
- Minimum 10 years of progressive public accounting experience, with a strong focus on real estate clients
- Proven leadership in managing complex audit engagements and audit teams
- Strong communication, client service, and business development skills
- Solid track record of talent development and team management
