Job summary

Gallatin County is seeking a detail‑oriented accounting professional to support the Auditor’s Office. You will examine claims, process reimbursements, review invoices, and assist with audits, risk assessments, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts payable/receivable.
• Familiarity with GAAP/GAAS and audits.
• Ability to review vendor invoices for compliance.
• Understanding of county policies and procedures.
• Background in government or public-sector accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine and approve claims and invoices for legitimacy and compliance.
• Assist with countywide risk assessments and audits.
• Perform reconciliations (petty cash, departmental cards, journals).
• Respond to vendor/staff inquiries about payments and policies.
• Prepare quarterly expenditure reports and track voided checks.
• Review journal entries for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Review contracts and compare expenditures to contractual amounts.
• Manage indemnity bonds and record retention for the office.
