Abacus Group is seeking an Audit/Tax Manager for its Melville, NY office. The role combines audit execution with tax preparation and planning duties for a diverse client base in a public accounting environment.

You will lead engagement teams, review complex returns (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065), and ensure GAAP compliance while staying current on tax law changes. Public accounting experience is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA required
• Recent experience in a public accounting firm is required
• Exposure to both audit and tax functions is preferred

Our client is a public accounting firm. They seek an Audit/Tax Manager to join their Melville, NY office.

Responsibilities

• Perform audit procedures and substantive testing in assigned areas under the supervision of senior staff and managers
• Prepare and review a range of tax returns, including individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary returns (Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, etc.)
• Assist with tax planning strategies and research complex tax issues using specialized software
• Serve as a point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, gathering necessary financial information, and communicating findings or recommendations clearly and professionally
• Provide general accounting and bookkeeping support for small business clients, including maintaining general ledgers and assisting with financial statement preparation and month-end/year-end closings
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and accounting principles (GAAP). Organize and maintain accurate client records and documentation for auditing purposes
• Stay current with changes in accounting standards and tax laws through ongoing professional education and training opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• Master’s degree in Accounting is a plus
• 7+ years of relevant experience
• Real estate, gasoline, or medical industries are a plus
• Recent experience in a public accounting firm is required
• Exposure to both audit and tax functions is preferred
• Analytical and detail-oriented
• Strong organizational and communicative skills
