Job summary

Avidex in Southern California seeks an experienced AV Technician - III to lead field installation teams and execute AV/IT systems at customer sites. You will install displays, projectors, speakers, cabling, and perform terminations and testing, ensuring installations meet plans and safety standards.

With 4+ years in AV/IT installations, you will read construction drawings, mentor junior technicians, and coordinate with project teams to keep projects on schedule and within scope.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 4+ years of AV/IT system installation experience with field leadership.
• Proficient with AV/IT trade tools and construction equipment.
• Experience mounting displays, projectors, screens and speakers.
• Ability to read construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Ability to lead crews and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid state installation license or certification where required.
• AVIXA CTS-I certification or ability to obtain within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate field installation crews, assigning work and keeping projects on schedule.
• Install AV/IT equipment including displays, projectors, screens, speakers, cabling and components.
• Perform cable pulls, terminations, mounting, wiring and basic system setup.
• Read and interpret project drawings, specs and work orders.
• Test installed equipment and troubleshoot to meet performance specs.
• Provide hands-on training and mentorship to installers and junior technicians.
• Maintain record drawings and report field changes to Foreman/PM.
• Coordinate with project team to meet scope, quality and codes, while ensuring safety.

Position Summary:

The Audiovisual (AV) Technician – III is an experienced member of the field installation team responsible for leading and performing AV/IT system installations at customer and construction sites. This role coordinates installation activities, provides technical guidance to field crews, and helps ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and quality standards.

Working with minimal supervision, the Audiovisual (AV) Technician – IIIserves as a key point of contact between the installation crew and project team while providing hands‑on technical expertise throughout the installation process.

What You'll Do:

• Lead and coordinate field installation crews, assigning work and helping ensure projects stay on schedule.

• Provide technical guidance, hands‑on training, and mentorship to installers and developing technicians.
• Maintain accurate record drawings and communicate field changes, project progress, and issues to the Foreman or Project Manager.
• Coordinate with the project team to ensure installations meet project scope, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow OSHA, company, and jobsite safety requirements.

What We're Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 4+ years of experience with AV/IT system installation, including experience leading field installation work.
• Advanced proficiency with AV/IT trade tools and construction equipment, including lifts and scaffolding.
• Experience installing and mounting displays, projectors, projection screens, speakers, and related AV equipment.
• Experience with AV cabling, termination, equipment setup, and system testing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Ability to lead field crews, provide technical direction, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid state installation license or certification where required.
• AVIXA CTS-I certification or ability to obtain within two years of hire; completion of a State Certified Apprenticeship program may satisfy this requirement.
• Powder‑actuated tool certification.
• Basic computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel to project sites, including occasional overnight travel, and work early, late, or weekend hours based on project needs.
• Ability to work in active construction environments, including climbing ladders and scaffolding and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted.
