Job summary

CHENEGA HEALTHCARE SERVICES, LLC in Fort Bragg, NC seeks an Audiology Technician to support clinical and surveillance audiology programs under the supervision of a licensed audiologist. THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON BID AWARD

The Audiology Technician supports clinical and surveillance audiology programs under the supervision of a licensed audiologist. The position performs non-diagnostic hearing conservation services, assists with hearing aid troubleshooting and patient support, manages audiology-related supplies and appointments, and documents patient care activities in the electronic health record in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and Army Hearing Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Support the operation of clinical and surveillance audiology programs under the supervision and direction of an audiologist.
  • Perform direct patient care support duties, including non-diagnostic otoscopy and non-diagnostic hearing examinations in accordance with CAOHC certification requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hearing aids
  • Perform listening checks
  • Pair hearing aids to accessories and devices using Bluetooth
  • Program previously stored settings into hearing aids
  • Provide basic hearing aid information to patients consistent with the audiologist’s treatment plan.
  • Triage phone calls and audiology requests
  • Coordinate appropriate follow-up support
  • Manage hearing aid supplies
  • Schedule appointments
  • Electronically order supplies or devices
  • Verify orders upon arrival
  • Process ROES transactions and package and mail hearing aids and accessories as required.
  • Calibrate hearing and hearing aid testing equipment and ensure equipment readiness for patient care activities.
  • Document appropriate information related to patient care within the electronic health record.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with current Army Hearing Standards and applicable healthcare policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as an Audiology Technician.
  • Possess and maintain a Basic Life Support certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of healthcare principles, practices, procedures, medical equipment, medical materials, and supplies used to support patient care.
  • Ability to complete the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation Course (CAOHC) prior to hire to enable access to the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System-Hearing Conservation (DOEHRS-HC).
  • Knowledge of occupational hearing conservation practices, CAOHC requirements, and current Army Hearing Standards.
  • Ability to perform non-diagnostic hearing conservation support services within the scope of certification and under audiologist supervision.
  • Possess skill in troubleshooting, checking, pairing, and supporting hearing aids, accessories, and related devices.
  • Ability to use electronic health record systems and accurately document patient care information.
  • Ability to schedule appointments, manage supplies, process orders, and maintain accurate administrative records.
  • Possess strong customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally with patients, clinical staff, government personnel, and team members.
