Audiologists are responsible for performing clinical audiology testing of claimants in-office using advanced technology and procedures. The Office of Disability and Medical Assessment (DMA), the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) have developed specific guides for conducting disability examinations. Audiologists are expected to be familiar with these guides as they complete VBA designated worksheets when examining conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation and/or Experience Master’s or Doctorate in Audiology. State licensure as an Audiologist. Experience in computerized charting at the time of visit. Typing at least 35 words per minute. Strong written and communication skills.
Preferred Experience One year experience performing clinical audiology testing preferred.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common correspondence, medical records and itemized billing statements, and legal contracts and documents. Ability to write clearly and informatively to all required audiences and edit own work for appropriate spelling and grammar. Ability to respond appropriately and professionally to all inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, upper management, and/or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one, in small groups, and/or to clients or vendors of the company.
