Expected pay for this position is $42.05 - $49.47/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.

Schedule

Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm

Location/Patient Population

This position will assist patients at both locations: OSF Center for Health Rt 91 and INI (Illinois Neurological Institute). This audiologist will primarily see adult patients in the clinic for diagnostic hearing testing along with the programming and dispensing of hearing aids. Will also see pediatric patients.

Position Summary

Performs services including evaluation, diagnosing, treatment and management of patients with hearing and/or balance dysfunction referred by a medical doctor or self. In doing so, determines the most likely site of damage to the auditory/vestibular system and anticipates the degree of social disability resulting from damage/loss. Predicts potential benefits to patients for hearing aid use, along with cochlear implants and/or osseointegrated implant use. Counsels and educates patients and families in habilitative or rehabilitative practices, monitors patients' progress and maintains clinical records according to established procedures. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a Doctoral degree in Audiology.

Current state license as an Audiologist, state license for hearing aid dispensing, certificate of clinical competence from ASHA.

Other Skills/Knowledge: Work requires the interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and families when conducting tests, providing treatment and with physicians, speech and language pathologists and other closely related clinical professionals when gathering and exchanging patient information. Work requires analytical ability to administer and evaluate standardized audiological tests, evaluate results, develop treatment plans, monitor patients' progress, and troubleshoot amplification devices. The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s). This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development.
