Job description

Shift Monday - Friday, Days Scheduled Weekly Hours 40

Position Purpose

Evaluates and treats patients exhibiting or at risk for hearing and /or vestibular disorders.

Essential Functions
  • Evaluates auditory and vestibular function through standard audiometrics, electronystagmograhy, auditory, evoked potentials, electrocochlegraphy, and middle ear analysis.
  • Interprets test results, establishes and carries Plan of Treatment (POT). POT may include medical referral or hearing aid dispensing and/or recommendations for further testing.
  • Dispenses hearing aids by first evaluating hearing aid candidacy.
  • Counsels and instructs patient follow-ups through telephone calls and office visits.
  • Audiologist describes pricing in detail and refers the patient to the Audiology Assistant for payment options.
  • Works with Pediatric through Geriatric age groups and refers to alternate facilities and professionals as necessary.
  • Documents evaluation, recommendations and treatments through written reports and progress notes.
  • Audiologist produces a report of findings and forwards to the original referral source or sends copies to party in which they are referring patient.
  • Markets self, profession and department through participation in health fairs, trade shows, community presentations and community service organizations.
  • Works closely with regional industry in completing OSHA Hearing Conservation Programs.
  • Prepares and submits appropriate paperwork to obtain funding for patients who qualify. (IDPA, DSCC, DORS)
  • Performs cerumen removal procedures.
  • Attends required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Participates in professional development activities.
  • Maintains CEU for licensure as personal development.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Attend annual OSHA and other mandatory inservices as required.
  • Must keep up to date on reading Policy & Procedure and OSHA manuals when required and within designated time periods.
  • Conducts comprehensive hearing evaluations and diagnostic tests.
  • Fits, programs and maintains hearing aids and other assistive listening devices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Specialized Know-How & Requirements
  • Doctorate of Audiology (PhD or AuD) required.
  • State of Illinois Licensure in Audiology and Illinois Hearing Aid Dispensing License required.

Compensation Range $69,600.00 - $104,400.00
