Job summary

Chicago ENT - Advanced Center for Specialty Care in Chicago seeks an Audiologist to diagnose and treat a range of ear and hearing disorders, while supporting internal otolaryngology physicians and external referrals. The role includes conducting hearing assessments, interpreting results, and implementing rehabilitation plans.

You will help advance testing modalities and participate in marketing initiatives to grow the audiology practice. The ideal candidate holds Au.D.

Qualifications

  • Au.D. or Master039;s Degree in Audiology.
  • CCC-A required if supervising externs.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential to prioritize daily work.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and critical-thinking skills.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical audiology experience preferred; recent graduates considered.
  • Must be a team player, able to accept constructive criticism and follow work rules.
  • Proficiency with PC-based computer skills and keyboarding speed/accuracy.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • EClinicalWorks or another EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Function as an independent professional and service provider with a focus on customer service.
  • Support otolaryngology physicians during daily patient schedules; see referred patients and hearing aid services.
  • Schedule, administer and interpret tests to determine type and degree of hearing impairment.
  • Evaluate test results with related info to determine communication problems.
  • Schedule, administer and interpret electrophysiological testing including OAE.
  • Bring new testing modalities and technology to the practice.
  • Plan and implement habilitation or rehabilitation services including hearing aid selection and counseling.
  • Perform insurance checks and prior authorizations for hearing aid coverage.
  • Create and implement marketing strategies to promote hearing aid growth.
  • Provide earmold fitting for hearing protection and water protection.
  • Maintain and calibrate audiological equipment.

Job description

The primary purpose of the Audiologist is to diagnose and treat patients with a variety of ear and hearing issues and disorders, function as an independent professional and service provider who supports the internal otolaryngology physicians, as well as external referring doctors and sources. They also determine the type and degree of hearing impairment and implement habilitation and rehabilitation services. Additionally, this role will assist the marketing and administrative team in the development of marketing strategies and initiatives to promote growth of the audiology practice. This role will report to the Lead Audiologist and be two days a week.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Function as an independent professional and service provider with a strong focus on delivering unparalleled customer service.
  • Support otolaryngology physicians during daily patient schedules; see patients referred from other providers and patients needing hearing aids services.
  • Schedule, administer and interpret a variety of tests such as air and bone conduction and speech reception and discrimination tests to determine type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage and effects on comprehension and speech.
  • Evaluate test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, speech pathologists and other professionals to determine communication problems related to hearing disability. Refer to physician as appropriate.
  • Schedule, administer and interpret electrophysiological testing including OAE.
  • Bring new testing modalities and technology to the practice to enhance standard of care.
  • Plan and implement prevention, habilitation or rehabilitation services including hearing aid selection, orientation, counseling and programming.
  • Perform insurance checks, prior authorizations, and or prior determinations for hearing aid coverage.
  • Create, plan and implement marketing strategies and initiatives to enhance and promote growth of hearing aid practice.
  • Provide earmold fitting for purposes of hearing protection and water protection.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and calibration of all audiological equipment.
  • Order supplies and materials for departmental needs.
  • Act as a consultant to educational, medical, legal, and other professional groups.
  • Maintain continuing education requirement of 20 CEU hours every 2 years in compliance with the mandate for professional licensure.
  • Perform other projects and duties as related to department objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Audiologist license in good standing and in applicable state required. CPR certification required. A valid driver\'s license is preferred.

Must have current licensure from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation, and possess a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (if Master\'s prepared) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, for the purpose of student supervision.
