Job summary

The Audio Visual Technician role at the Denver Art Museum supports programs, events, and meetings by setting up, operating, and striking audio-visual equipment. You will troubleshoot issues, deliver service-oriented experiences, and collaborate with the IT department to uphold museum policies.

We look for candidates with basic AV knowledge, strong problem-solving, and the ability to work on several events per month, all while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.

Audio Visual Technician, Part-time (Non-exempt)Why Join Us?To provide exceptional, service-oriented, technical assistance for Denver Art Museum programs, events, and meetings and to help set up, operate, monitor, strike and maintain audio-visual equipment needed for internal museum functions and meetings.This position reports to the Senior AV Manager in the IT Department and works closely with the Lead AV Technician.Position type: This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU.Pay: The hiring hourly range for the position is $25.50 - $31.90, based on experience.Perks & Benefits: Free DAM Family Membership; 4 hours of personal time plus Colorado paid sick leave; Employee Assistance Program; subscription to Headspace; 403(b) Retirement Plan with immediate eligibility to contribute; those who meet the requirements after one year and 1,000 hours qualify for the 3% non-elective contribution and 2% match program; and more. Free RTD Eco Pass.What You’ll DoThe Audio Visual Technician is essential to executing events at the Denver Art Museum (DAM).The technician elects to work a shift and is responsible for executing the notes as outlined for that event as outlined by the Senior AV Manager.Setup, operate, and strike audio-visual systems for the assigned event.Quickly identify and implement smart troubleshooting techniques for common issues in AV environments.Deliver a successful and positive customer service-oriented experience for your audience and client.Be able to quickly absorb the knowledge of DAM policies, restrictions, and procedures sufficient to coordinate and execute technical programs without violating the security of the museum and its collections.Work at least 1 event per month.Extend assistance and a customer service-oriented approach to 3rd party vendors on events as required with integration into DAM AV systems.Adhere to IT/AV departmental policies as outlined.Other duties as assigned.What We’re Looking ForA qualified candidate is a quick study, prioritizes aesthetics, and models staying calm under pressure in stressful situations.Can exercise good judgement in difficult problem-solving situations.Candidates should have basic knowledge and real-world experience in using audio-visual equipment within professional event environments.A strong understanding of conventional signal flow within audio, video, and lighting systems.Professional working proficiencies with:Digital audio systems, wired and wireless,Digital video recording camera and playback systems,Conventional theatrical lighting systems and portable lighting for video, andApple & Microsoft operating systems, business, creative, playback, streaming and broadcasting applications.Should be tactful and patient.Should be organized and strategic.Excellent at working alongside their peers collaboratively to do whatever it takes to “keep the magic alive” for an event.Great at following instructions and filling in missing steps logically when necessary.A professional style of communication.The ability to keep AV setups very tidy and safe.Understanding of integrated IT networked environments is a plus.High school diploma or GED.Minimum of 1-3 years’ on-the-job experience providing audio-visual and/or technical support.Our Hiring Process & What to ExpectWe know job searching can be overwhelming, so here’s a transparent look at our process:Application Close Date: August 19h, 2026Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to respond to phone calls or emails regarding application status.
