The Center for Information Technology (CIT) / Media Production Media Specialist/Audio Visual Technician’s role is to support the multimedia needs for Hampton University. This includes lectures, athletics, special events and other miscellaneous activities or special occasions.

The candidate would be responsible for working directly with the Media Production’s Director to support the university’s faculty, directors, and end-users and assist with audiovisual requirements for all athletic and university-wide events.

Examples of Duties
  • Set-up and install all audio-visual equipment such as microphones, speakers, video projection screens, classroom technology (e.g., Promethean Active Panels/Smart boards, etc.) for all approved athletic events, university ceremonial occasion events, lectures, student activity events, university press conferences and other assignments
  • Setting up all multimedia equipment
  • Serve as on-site technicians for events such as seminars, lectures concerts, ceremonial occasions, athletic events, meetings, conventions, and presentations
  • Able to operate video cameras and have a working knowledge of video production
  • Troubleshoot issues in a time-sensitive manner
  • Provide end-user training as required to support Media Productions
  • Maintain inventory of all audio/video equipment
  • Document and follow preventative maintenance procedures
  • Assist in scheduling and tracking the location of all equipment and media assets
  • All other duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Communication or related field is preferred. May substitute the equivalent of education, technical certifications or training, or related work experience and a high school diploma.
  • Proven two (2) years’ audio-visual experience required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proficiency in using the Adobe editing Suite
  • Experience with using HD cameras
  • Ability to set up projectors, laptops, microphones, and other technology without supervision
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
