Job summary

Instrata in Chandler, AZ is seeking an AV Field Engineer to lead quality control and commissioning of integrated audio-visual systems on client sites.

You will configure DSPs (Biamp or QSC), manage IP networks, build racks, test video codecs and UI, and provide hands-on training and post-install support. Travel and strong collaboration with clients and engineers are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of AV field installation and commissioning experience.
  • CTS Certification (CTS-I preferred).
  • DSP certification (Biamp or QSC preferred).
  • Control system certification (Crestron or Extron preferred).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Visio or similar tools.
  • Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project managers, programmers, and clients to resolve issues quickly.
  • Finalize documentation: redlines, as-builts, commissioning checklists, IP device configs.
  • Commission systems: configure and test DSPs, gain structures, rack builds, video codecs, UI.
  • Support implementation: assist technicians in the field and provide guidance.
  • Manage code & configurations: track DSP and control system versions on project servers.
  • Punch lists & walkthroughs: develop/update lists with team and clients.
  • Provide training: hands-on system training to clients and end users.
  • Pre-sales support: conduct technical site surveys for accurate proposals.
  • Service & support: post-install troubleshooting and client support.

Do you take pride in ensuring that complex systems run flawlessly? We’re looking for a skilled AV Field Engineer to lead the quality control and commissioning of integrated audio-visual projects.

What You’ll Do – Test with Precision. Deliver with Confidence.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Partner with project managers, programmers, and clients to resolve issues quickly and keep projects on track.
  • Finalize Documentation: Submit redlined drawings for as-builts, maintain commissioning checklists, and provide IP configuration documentation for AV devices.
  • Commission Systems: Configure and test audio DSPs, gain structures, rack builds, video codecs, and UI to ensure seamless performance.
  • Support Implementation: Assist technicians in the field, answer questions, and provide technical guidance during installs.
  • Manage Code & Configurations: Track and maintain versions of DSP and control system code on project servers.
  • Punch List & Walkthroughs: Develop and update punch lists with the project team and clients during walkthroughs.
  • Provide Training: Deliver hands‑on system training to clients and end users.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Conduct technical site surveys during the sales cycle to help design accurate proposals.
  • Service & Support: Offer post-installation troubleshooting and client support when needed.
What You Bring
  • Strong knowledge of AV system integration, commissioning, and best practices.
  • Hands‑on skills in DSP programming (Biamp or QSC preferred) and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of IP networking and AV device configuration.
  • Proficiency in rack building, cabling, terminating, and testing.
  • Excellent communication skills and client‑facing presence.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities while staying detail focused.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Requirements

  • Avixa CTS Certification (CTS-I preferred).
  • DSP certification (Biamp or QSC preferred).
  • Control system certification (Crestron or Extron preferred).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Visio, or similar design tools.
  • Skilled in Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Work Environment
