Job summary

Superior Communication Services seeks an AV Technician to execute permanent AV installations with accuracy and on time. You will read drawings, wire and test systems, and collaborate with project teams to meet client expectations.

The role requires 3+ years of AV install experience, knowledge of low-voltage wiring, and the ability to work on active construction sites. Travel may be required; strong safety and quality focus is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on AV installation experience in commercial environments.
• Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring, AV racks, mounting, and signal flow.
• Ability to read construction drawings and AV schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, and commission AV systems including displays, projectors, and conferencing platforms.
• Read and interpret drawings and scope documentation to ensure accuracy.
• Run and test low-voltage cabling (cat cable, fiber, coax).
• Rack, stack, and dress AV equipment racks to standards.
• Configure and troubleshoot AV hardware, software, and networked devices.
• Perform system testing and commissioning to verify end-user experience.
• Collaborate with Lead Technicians, Project Managers, and clients to meet timelines.

Position Summary

The AV Technician is responsible for executing permanent AV installations on time, on spec, and to the standard SCS clients expect.

What You’ll Own

• Install, terminate, test, and commission commercial audiovisual systems, including displays, projectors, projection screens, speakers, microphones, DSPs, cameras, control systems, LED video walls, digital signage, and conferencing platforms.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, AV schematics, signal flow diagrams, and scope documentation to ensure installations are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Pull, route, label, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling, including category cable, fiber optic, speaker wire, and coaxial cabling.
• Rack, stack, and dress AV equipment racks following industry best practices and SCS quality standards.
• Configure and troubleshoot AV hardware, software, and network-connected devices.
• Perform system testing, quality control checks, and commissioning activities to verify functionality and ensure a seamless end-user experience.
• Collaborate with Lead Technicians, Project Managers, and client stakeholders to ensure projects stay on schedule and meet scope requirements.
• Identify installation challenges and proactively communicate solutions before they impact project timelines.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of hands-on AV installation experience in commercial environments
• Strong working knowledge of low-Voltage wiring, AV rack builds, display and speaker mounting, camera installation, and signal flow
• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Certifications

Not required, but they set you apart:

• OSHA 10
• CTS (Certified Technology Specialist)
• Crestron Certification
• DSP Certifications: QSYS, Biamp, Harman, or Shure
