Sony Interactive Entertainment is hiring an Audio and UX Software Engineer in California to build and test embedded software for PlayStation audio devices. You will contribute to UI/UX, audio DSP testing, and firmware bring-up while solving cross‑domain challenges across hardware and software.

The role emphasizes data-driven design, clear specifications, and collaboration with a small team under a startup vibe within a large organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1-2 years of experience in embedded firmware development
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Critical thinking and data driven mindset
• Passion for gaming, audio, digital entertainment and consumer electronics is a plus

Responsibilities

• Contribute to UI/UX development to support audio devices
• Contribute to developing audio device testing to improve the utilization of audio DSP and develop algorithmic improvements
• Own build and smoke testing process with mentorship from senior engineers
• Author clear specifications for code you contribute to
• Contribute to developing unit test framework
• Communicate clearly, commit and deliver on deadlines
• Support manufacturing builds and coordinate firmware activities during product bring-up
• Support products post-launch
