Job summary

Rivian in Palo Alto offers an Engineering Intern role on the Audio Hardware team. This program targets undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in accredited programs with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and 2029, and requires full-time availability during the spring program.

You will collaborate with mechanical and software teams to test and validate audio components, measure cabin acoustics, and support integration into Rivian vehicles. Visa sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree at an accredited university.
• Actively pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
• Fundamental knowledge of electroacoustics and audio transducer operation.
• Hands-on experience with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators).
• Scripting in Python or MATLAB for processing test data.
• Basic understanding of hardware schematics or 3D designs (CATIA, SolidWorks).
• Strong communication, data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Exposure to audio measurement suites is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Test audio components (speakers, microphones, amplifiers) at bench and vehicle levels.
• Perform vehicle-level audio testing including cabin acoustic measurements.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering for audio component integration into packaging.
• Evaluate and benchmark new audio technologies and transducer prototypes.
• Provide ongoing engineering and lab support across the audio team.
