Job summary

Mercor is seeking experienced music producers and audio engineers to evaluate generative music AI models. You will assess AI-generated music across multiple genres, rating quality against detailed standards and labeling songs by genre, structure, and vocal characteristics.

Start date is immediate with a six-month timeline. Most experts work around 20 hours per week. Compensation is hourly, with potential shift to per-task while keeping the same effective hourly rate.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a music producer, audio engineer, or mixing engineer.
• Headphones or studio monitors suitable for critical listening.
• Formal training in music performance, theory, or composition is a plus.
• Credited or commercially released production, engineering, or mixing work is a plus.
• Broad familiarity with contemporary genres, sub-genres, and artists.

You will assess AI-generated music across a wide range of genres and rate it against detailed quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Compare AI-generated songs head-to-head on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production/mix quality

• Label songs by genre, structure, instruments, vocals, and other musical characteristics

• Review AI-generated lyrics and vocals against reference material for quality and accuracy

Requirements

Project Timeline

• Compensation: this role is currently paid hourly. The pay structure may move to per-task during the project; if it does, your effective hourly rate will stay the same.
