Job summary

Mercor is seeking experienced music producers and audio engineers to evaluate generative music AI models in partnership with a leading AI lab. You will assess AI-created music across genres and rate it against detailed quality standards.

Key tasks include head-to-head comparisons of musicality, labeling songs by genre and structure, and reviewing AI lyrics and vocals against reference material. Start date is immediate, up to 6 months, about 20 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as music producer or audio engineer.
• Personal listening setup (headphones or studio monitors) for critical listening.
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated music across genres and provide structured feedback.

Responsibilities

• Compare AI-generated songs head-to-head on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production/mix quality.
• Label songs by genre, structure, instruments, vocals, and other musical characteristics.

• Label songs by genre, structure, instruments, vocals, and other musical characteristics




• Review AI-generated lyrics and vocals against reference material for quality and accuracy

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a music producer, audio engineer, or mixing engineer




• Headphones or studio monitors suitable for critical listening

Nice to have

• Formal training in music performance, theory, or composition




• Credited or commercially released production, engineering, or mixing work




• Broad familiarity with contemporary genres, sub-genres, and artists
