SAE Institute in Atlanta seeks an Audio Engineer Adjunct Instructor to deliver hands-on courses within the Student-Centered Active Education model. You will guide students, align instruction with SAE policies, and support campus events while maintaining high instructional standards.

You will plan and prepare lessons, assess student work, and participate in professional development to advance teaching practices across the program.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required; credential in the taught field if degree not in the field.
  • Minimum 4 years of industry experience since degree.
  • Temporary exceptions possible for non-master’s-qualified candidates with evidence of progress toward a degree.
  • Familiarity with Canvas LMS and learner-centered teaching methods.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in line with SAE policies and procedures.
  • Deliver instruction aligned with the Student-Centered Active Education model.
  • Create a learning environment that engages students and supports outcomes.
  • Advise, participate in curriculum development, and support campus events as requested.
  • Maintain attendance, submit grades on time, and enforce policies.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that support course outcomes.
  • Provide academic advising and support for students when needed.
  • Participate in faculty development activities and pursue ongoing improvement.
  • Comply with instructor eligibility and SAE policies.
  • Supervise makeup sessions, tutor, and substitute when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Instructors apply the Student-Centered Active Education model to teach, inspire, motivate, guide, and support students in their assigned courses and programs. Instructors are expected to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and lifelong learning, including participating in regular faculty and professional development activities to advance the practice of teaching and learning at SAE.

Audio Engineer Adjunct Instructor Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach classes as assigned in accordance with all SAE policies and procedures.
  • Deliver instruction in alignment with the Student-Centered Active Education model.
  • Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning and student engagement.
  • Contribute to a learning culture by participating in academic advising, participating in curriculum development, and supporting campus events such as workshops, new student orientation, and graduation as requested.
  • Manage the learning environment by keeping accurate attendance records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing SAE policies and procedures.
  • Effectively plan and prepare for classes and student success, including developing course activities that support lesson and course learning outcomes.
  • Contact, advise, and support absent and high-risk students and document contact activities.
  • Complete faculty development activities annually to continually improve instructional delivery, professional knowledge and skills, and support for diverse learners.
  • Maintain instructor eligibility according to applicable federal, state, and accreditation regulations.
  • Abide by all SAE policies and procedures
  • For full-time instructors, supervise scheduled makeup sessions, provide tutoring and academic advising, advise student clubs, support faculty development activities, and substitute for classes in emergency situations.

Audio Engineer Adjunct Instructor Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • For program courses toward a Bachelor’s degree:
    • A minimum of a master’s degree; if the master’s degree is not in the field that the instructor is teaching in, the instructor must also hold a credential in the field at or above the level of the program they’re teaching in.
    • A minimum of 4 years of industry experience since the completion of the qualifying degree
    • In rare cases, an adjunct faculty member who does not hold a master’s degree but has extensive and significant work experience may be granted a temporary exception by the Chief Academic and Compliance Officer, with the expectation of regular demonstrated evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of a master’s degree during the approved exception period
  • Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system
  • Familiarity with learner-centered, active learning, and problem-based and project-based learning and teaching methodologies
  • Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel
Audio Engineer Adjunct Instructor Additional Information

Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the organization, minimal reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
