Job summary

The San Francisco Chronicle is seeking an Audience Intern for Summer 2027 to join our team of digital producers and audience editors in San Francisco. This paid, 12-week internship will place you with cross-functional teams across our website, app, and newsletters, helping to grow engagement and reach across platforms.

You will gain hands-on experience in social media, writing, video/editing, and audience analytics, with mentors from editors and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Internship in a fast-paced newsroom environment preferred but not required.
• Interest in audience engagement work, especially social media strategy and digital-first content.
• Strong written and visual storytelling instincts are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive training and mentoring from editors and colleagues across departments.
• Draft social media posts.
• Create digital-first content: writing articles, shooting/editing video, and tailoring content for social channels like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube.
