Earthjustice, the nation's leading environmental law organization, seeks an Audience Editor to supervise two writers and guide content across channels, backed by audience research and performance data insights.

You will coach writers, shape messaging strategy, and uphold our values in a collaborative, inclusive environment. This full-time, hybrid role offers cross-department impact on climate and justice communications nationwide.

Qualifications

• 7+ years writing and editing in a fast-paced environment; management experience required.
• 2+ years serving in a defined editing role with coaching experience.
• Experience producing on-channel content primarily for social media, digital advertising, and/or email teams.
• Demonstrated ability to produce writing that advances audience development goals.
• Experience gathering audience analytics – particularly in Google Analytics – and drawing actionable lessons from the data to improve impact.
• Fluency with message guides and producing content with message discipline.
• Familiarity with fact-checking principles and rapid-speed topic ramp-ups.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and provide constructive feedback while upholding Earthjustice values.

Responsibilities

• Editing content and tailoring it for target audiences and multiple channels (email, SMS, social, GEO/SEO).
• Translate audience research into practical guidance for writers and editors.
• Produce accurate, timely work in a shifting landscape of news, technology, politics, and law; adapt to rapid response moments.
• Review and analyze channel data to understand what content moves audiences and what could be improved.
• Propose, execute, and analyze tests to improve content performance against team goals.
• Shape new content formats for emerging platforms and meet audiences in new spaces.
• Supervise two staff writers; coach writers on tailoring content and sharpening writing.
• Uphold Earthjustice’s mission and foster a respectful, inclusive, collaborative environment; provide direction and feedback.
• Oversee administrative, budgeting, and personnel management of direct reports.
