Job summary

The Tulsa World is seeking a dynamic journalist to lead our business coverage, guiding growth and shaping coverage priorities in a hybrid newsroom in Tulsa. The role requires strong reporting, digital fluency and a demonstrated ability to translate complex economics for a broad audience.

Ideal candidates bring at least three years of business reporting experience and a track record of enterprise work. BLOX experience is a plus; we value integrity, independence and collaborative spirit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years of relevant business reporting experience.
• Experience covering business, economics or public policy preferred.
• Familiarity with BLOX is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Shape Tulsa World's business coverage by identifying stories informing readers and driving audience growth.
• Report, research and write enterprise, investigative, breaking news and explainers about Tulsa's business community.
• Develop coverage of key industries: energy, aerospace, manufacturing, transportation and logistics.
• Collaborate with editors to set daily and long-term coverage priorities.
• Produce journalism across digital and print, plus short-form video and social media.
• Build a network of sources including business leaders, workers and policymakers.
• Use audience analytics and SEO to grow readers and subscriptions.
• Write engaging, SEO-friendly headlines and present complex topics clearly.
• Uphold journalism ethics, accuracy, independence.
