Job summary

Stoel Rives LLP is seeking an Attorney Recruiting Manager to lead the full-cycle lateral associate recruiting for all practice groups in our Portland or Seattle offices.

You will collaborate with firm leadership, practice leaders, and HR to build a robust candidate pipeline and manage onboarding, while maintaining a high standard of professional conduct and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree, HR certification, or other relevant credential is a plus.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of recruiting experience within a law firm, legal organization, or law school career services office; multi-level lateral recruitment experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with firm leadership, practice leaders, search firms, and business services colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with practice group leaders to understand hiring needs and market conditions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with legal search firms and referral sources for a strong candidate pipeline.

Job description

Stoel Rives LLP has an immediate opening for an Attorney Recruiting Manager in either our Portland or Seattle office. The Attorney Recruiting Manager oversees lateral associate recruiting for all practice groups and supports elements of the lateral partner recruiting process. The position works closely with firm leadership including the Chief Talent and Recruiting Officer, Practice Group Leaders, Practice Group Directors, and Office Administrators. The position reports to the Chief Talent and Recruiting Officer and supervises one Attorney Recruiting Coordinator.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIESLead and manage the full-cycle lateral associate recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluating and selecting candidates, extending offers, and onboarding.Partner with practice group leaders to understand strategic hiring needs, practice-specific experience requirements, market conditions, and candidate profiles necessary to support business objectives.Develop and maintain strong relationships with legal search firms and referral sources to build a highly qualified candidate pipeline.Proactively generate and cultivate candidate pools through LinkedIn Recruiter, internal referrals, bar associations and industry organizations, professional networks, and other sourcing tools.Review resumes and candidate materials, conduct preliminary assessments, and work with practice group leaders and other partners to identify and recommend high-potential candidates for consideration.Coordinate and manage all aspects of the interview process, including scheduling, interview preparation, candidate communications, interview feedback collection, and evaluation discussions.Lead lateral associate onboarding in collaboration with other administrative departments.Support the lateral partner recruiting process including facilitating the candidate interview and evaluation process, post-offer administrative processes, and onboarding; facilitate a positive recruitment experience for all lateral partner candidates.Supervise and mentor the Attorney Recruiting Coordinator, establishing priorities, workflows, and development opportunities while ensuring accurate and efficient recruiting operations.Other duties and tasks may be assigned.ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIESKeep personally identifiable information, personal health information, and attorney/client privileged information confidential; prioritize daily responsibilities and special projects and readjust as priorities change; coordinate resources to meet deadlines; perform multiple tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment; maintain a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times; be a constant-learner, flexible, proactive, efficient and resourceful; take initiative, and follow through; solve problems; work independently and in an interactive team environment; have prompt, regular, and predictable attendance; have strong organizational, grammar, and proofreading skills; pay attention to detail; have outstanding interpersonal and client service skills; have clear, effective, and professional verbal and written communication skills; and be proficient and fluent in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.Technical KnowledgeAccurately type 60+ wpmProficiency in common office applications, including Microsoft Office suite and Adobe AcrobatExperience with law firm software, such as iManage, Visio, Emburse, Laurel, Aderant, Intapp, Maptician, Box, Workshare Compare, Metadata Assistant, WestlawNext, WestCheck, and InterAction is preferredPhysical/Mental CapabilitiesOperate a telephone, personal computer, and all types of photocopy equipment and other necessary office equipment; read and comprehend handwritten and typed notes or instructions; type on a computer keyboard in a sitting or standing position for extended periods of time during a 7.5‑hour workday; learn and effectively use firm style and software applications; accurately proofread documents; accurately record and deliver phone messages; carry files, binders, and pouches of files for short distances.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree required; advanced degree, HR certification, or other relevant professional credential is a plus.Minimum of 8-10 years of recruiting experience within a law firm, legal organization, or law school career services office; a combination of these experiences is highly desirable.Demonstrated success managing lateral attorney recruitment at multiple levels and across a variety of practice areas, including strategic sourcing, candidate development, interview management, and offer negotiation support.Strong understanding of law firm organizational structures, legal practice areas, attorney career progression, and the competitive legal talent market.Proven ability to build trusted and productive partnerships with firm leadership, practice group leaders, practice area leaders, search firms, and business services colleagues.Exceptional organizational, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.Experience with viRecruit, Flo Recruit, Workday, and Microsoft Office applications strongly preferred; experience with recruiting analytics, applicant tracking systems, and event management platforms is also desirable.NORMAL WORK HOURSThis is a hybrid position, is exempt, and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Regular office hours are 8:30 - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.How You Will Live Life Well at Stoel Rives: Compensation, Benefits, and More!The pay range for this position is $95,000 - $150,000; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location.In addition to base compensation, Stoel Rives has a total rewards program that includes an annual discretionary bonus and rich benefits offerings. For example, our benefits offerings include paid family & medical leave, competitive PTO, and remote work options.
