Job summary

Stoel Rives LLP is seeking an experienced attorney recruiting leader to manage the full-cycle lateral associate process across offices. You will partner with practice group leaders to confirm hiring needs, market conditions, and candidate profiles while building pipelines through LinkedIn Recruiter, bar associations, and search firms.

This hybrid, exempt role oversees onboarding, assists with partner recruitment, and mentors the Attorney Recruiting Coordinator, ensuring efficient recruiting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree, HR certification, or other credential is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of recruiting experience within a law firm, legal organization, or law school career services office; combination desirable.
  • Proven success managing lateral attorney recruitment across multiple levels and practice areas.
  • Strong partnerships with firm leadership, practice group leaders, search firms, and business services colleagues.

Responsibilities

Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and manage the full-cycle lateral associate recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluating and selecting candidates, extending offers, and onboarding. Partner with practice group leaders to understand strategic hiring needs, practice-specific experience requirements, market conditions, and candidate profiles necessary to support business objectives. Develop and maintain strong relationships with legal search firms and referral sources to build a highly qualified candidate pipeline. Proactively generate and cultivate candidate pools through LinkedIn Recruiter, internal referrals, bar associations and industry organizations, professional networks, and other sourcing tools. Review resumes and candidate materials, conduct preliminary assessments, and work with practice group leaders and other partners to identify and recommend high-potential candidates for consideration. Coordinate and manage all aspects of the interview process, including scheduling, interview preparation, candidate communications, interview feedback collection, and evaluation discussions. Lead lateral associate onboarding in collaboration with other administrative departments. Support the lateral partner recruiting process including facilitating the candidate interview and evaluation process, post-offer administrative processes, and onboarding; facilitate a positive recruitment experience for all lateral partner candidates. Supervise and mentor the Attorney Recruiting Coordinator, establishing priorities, workflows, and development opportunities while ensuring accurate and efficient recruiting operations. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES

Technical Knowledge: Accurately type 60+ wpm. Proficiency in common office applications, including Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with law firm software, such as iManage, Visio, Emburse, Laurel, Aderant, Intapp, Maptician, Box, Workshare Compare, Metadata Assistant, WestlawNext, WestCheck, and InterAction is preferred.

Physical/Mental Capabilities

Operate a telephone, personal computer, and all types of photocopy equipment and other necessary office equipment; read and comprehend handwritten and typed notes or instructions; type on a computer keyboard in a sitting or standing position for extended periods of time during a 7.5-hour workday; learn and effectively use firm style and software applications; accurately proofread documents; accurately record and deliver phone messages; carry files, binders, and pouches of files for short distances.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree, HR certification, or other relevant professional credential is a plus. Minimum of 8-10 years of recruiting experience within a law firm, legal organization, or law school career services office; a combination of these experiences is highly desirable. Demonstrated success managing lateral attorney recruitment at multiple levels and across a variety of practice areas, including strategic sourcing, candidate development, interview management, and offer negotiation support. Strong understanding of law firm organizational structures, legal practice areas, attorney career progression, and the competitive legal talent market. Proven ability to build trusted and productive partnerships with firm leadership, practice group leaders, practice area leaders, search firms, and business services colleagues. Exceptional organizational, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. Experience with viRecruit, Flo Recruit, Workday, and Microsoft Office applications strongly preferred; experience with recruiting analytics, applicant tracking systems, and event management platforms is also desirable.

NORMAL WORK HOURS

This is a hybrid position, is exempt, and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Regular office hours are 8:30 - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The pay range for this position is $95,000 - $150,000; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location. In addition to base compensation, Stoel Rives has a total rewards program that includes an annual discretionary bonus and rich benefits offerings.
