Job OverviewA law firm seeks an Attorney - Personal Injury to join their team in Davenport, Iowa. This role offers the opportunity to build a rewarding litigation career while making a meaningful difference for injured clients. The attorney will manage cases, advocate for clients, negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing counsel, and collaborate with an experienced legal team.

Duties

• Represent clients in personal injury matters from case development through resolution.
• Evaluate claims, investigate case facts, and develop liability and damages evidence.
• Analyze case strengths, risks, and potential outcomes to develop appropriate strategies.
• Interview clients, witnesses, and other relevant parties to gather facts and evidence.
• Review medical records, insurance information, and other case documentation.
• Conduct thorough legal research and stay current on statutory laws and procedural updates.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony.
• Prepare for and participate in court depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Maintain professional communication with clients throughout their case.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all parties involved.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations for favorable outcomes.
• Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, and other team members.
• Maintain accurate and timely case documentation.
• Deliver high-level client service while upholding professional standards.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Iowa, or ability to obtain Iowa licensure.
• Personal injury experience preferred; transferable litigation experience encouraged.
• Experience handling a litigation caseload preferred.
• Deposition, mediation, hearing, negotiation, and/or trial experience preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case-management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and exercise sound legal judgment.
• Strong interpersonal and client-service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and legal support professionals.
• Commitment to professionalism, accountability, and excellent client service.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Iowa, or ability to obtain Iowa licensure.
