Job summary

Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, is seeking an Attorney Development Manager for its Washington, DC office on a hybrid basis. The ADM will work with the Professional Development team to develop and implement programs that onboard, train, mentor, engage, and retain attorneys across the firm, focusing on associates and development initiatives.

The role reports to the Senior Attorney Development Manager and requires strong problem‑solving, client focus, initiative, adaptability, and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree and strong project management skills.
  • 5+ years in professional development, talent services, DEI, or related field; significant experience in a large law firm preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory experience desired.
  • Experience establishing, developing, and managing robust career development functions in a multi‑office environment.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, adult learning techniques, and online learning technologies a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or contribute to firmwide projects such as Associate Conferences, Associate Review Process, Firmwide First Year Associate Orientation, Legal Writing Academy, and Mentor programs.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs (in‑person, virtual, hybrid) tailored to attorneys at various experience levels.
  • Oversee delivery of training programs using adult learning principles and effective measurement strategies.
  • Coordinate local programming with CDLs, including CLE programs; engage associates with integration into the firm and office.
  • Assist regional and global practice group heads in planning professional development programs and measuring outcomes.
  • Manage direct reports, own team-wide projects, and foster a culture of continuous learning.

Join our Professional Development Team as an Attorney Development Manager located in our Washington, DC office.

This role will be based in our Washington, DC office on a hybrid basis and reports to the Senior Attorney Development Manager.

Position Summary

The Attorney Development Manager (ADM) works alongside the Director of Attorney Development and other Managers on the Professional Development (PD) team to develop and implement innovative programs that onboard, train, mentor, engage, and retain attorneys across the firm, focusing on associates and professional development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Firmwide Projects

Lead or contribute to complex firmwide projects such as Associate Conferences, Associate Review Process, Firmwide First Year Associate Orientation, Legal Writing Academy, and Mentor programs.

Regional and Global Practice Group Responsibilities
Regional
  • Develop a deep understanding of the culture of each office
  • Meet with and foster relationships with Managing Shareholders and Career Development Liaisons (CDLs)
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, managing shareholders, practice group leaders, business directors, HR, and marketing to align professional development efforts
  • Set strategic development goals and training plans for the region
  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs (in‑person, virtual, hybrid) tailored to attorneys at various experience levels
  • Oversee delivery of training programs using adult learning principles and effective measurement strategies
  • Coordinate local programming with CDLs, including CLE programs
  • Engage associates and assist with integration into the firm and office
  • Support new shareholders with PD highlights and integration opportunities
  • Assist associates with career development strategies and business development plans
  • Monitor mentor program to ensure all associates have mentors
  • Travel to offices as required
  • Promote webinar programming to associates
  • Assist with associate evaluation process regionally
  • Track and report regional PD efforts and training metrics to leadership
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in learning and education solutions
Global Practice Group Training and Programming
  • Meet with Global Practice Group Heads each year to plan professional development programs
  • Collaborate with practice group shareholders to develop training programs and identify effective teaching methods
  • Oversee course catalogs, resources, and competencies related to the practice group
  • Evaluate programming and recommend content and process improvements
  • Track and report global practice group PD efforts and training metrics

Education & Prior Experience
  • Juris Doctor degree and strong project management skills; background practicing law at a large firm preferred

  • Demonstrated success establishing, developing, and managing robust career development functions in a multi‑office environment
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, adult learning techniques, and online learning technologies a plus
Technology
  • Hands‑on experience using generative AI tools to support professional and managerial tasks, with sound judgment when reviewing AI‑generated work
  • Ability to write effective prompts that define objectives, provide context, and guide AI tools

The Expected Pay Range For This Position Is

$153,003 - $165,094 per year. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job‑related factors.
