Job summary

Position Overview

The position of Attorney – Bankruptcy at PLG provides support to the firm’s bankruptcy staff and clients and reports directly to the firm’s designated Supervising Attorney of Bankruptcy Operations. The Attorney carries a caseload and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal areas of concern relating to default servicing. Duties include attending hearings, managing local appearance counsel hearings, reviewing documents, training staff, providing legal advice to clients, and conducting research at the local and federal level. Employment reviews occur annually to determine merit‑based increases based on company performance.

Scope of Work
  • Hearing maintenance: attending hearings, managing local appearance counsel hearing attendance, ensuring coverage for all scheduled hearings, and providing immediate real‑time hearing results internally and to the client.
  • Portfolio management: ensuring internal and external systems of record are updated timely, ensuring staff have updated drafting templates in compliance with local and federal rules, performing quality control reviews of documents prior to client or court submission, monitoring dockets to identify and upgrade actionable docket events, and ensuring upstream and downstream processes comply with established deadlines.
  • Loan level support to firm staff and clients: answering legal questions, providing training tools and drafting templates, coordinating with leadership to improve processes and staff performance, and conducting research using vendor and firm tools, providing results and recommendations for training, technology, or process changes.
  • Acting with integrity, energy, and commitment at all times, embodying firm culture, maintaining consistency and stability through work ethic and personal conduct, and timely escalating, managing, and mitigating any firm‑risk related legal matters performed by the bankruptcy department.
Requirements
  • An active bar admission in the state of hire with a member in good standing status.
  • Admission or the ability to obtain admission to all bankruptcy courts within the state of hire.
  • Experience representing creditors in bankruptcy proceedings in the jurisdiction of hire or willingness to obtain bankruptcy knowledge.
  • Ability to work with others in a congenial and team‑oriented manner.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi‑task and be adaptable to continual change.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
