Job description

This position is located in the Legal Division, Labor Unit of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and is responsible for providing legal counsel on labor and employment laws and regulations, conducting associated investigations, and defending the FDIC in labor and employment litigation and arbitration proceedings. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill similar vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

• Education: All attorney and law clerk trainee positions have a minimum education requirement of a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from a school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).
• Bar Membership: All attorney positions require current active bar membership (valid license to practice law). Admission to the bar of any state, District of Columbia, any United States territory or Commonwealth, or Federal Court is acceptable. Active Bar membership must be verified prior to appointment. Employees must maintain active bar membership while employed as an attorney with the FDIC.

Specialized Experience:

To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 14-grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in the practice of law in the area of labor relations, employee relations, and personnel and employment law, to include providing advice and counsel to senior management officials and defending management decisions in administrative litigation.
