Job summary

Insurance Defense Attorney – General Liability

An established law firm is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney with at least one year of experience handling general liability matters to join their growing practice. The ideal candidate will have experience managing an active caseload and defending insureds and businesses in a variety of liability claims.

This position offers the opportunity to handle cases from inception through resolution while working with a team in a collaborative and professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense and general liability matters
• Handle cases involving premises liability, automobile negligence, personal injury, and other general liability claims
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents
• Take and defend depositions
• Attend hearings, mediations, and court proceedings
• Analyze medical records, damages, liability issues, and case exposure
• Develop case strategies and provide recommendations regarding resolution
• Communicate effectively with clients, insureds, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and experts
• Prepare detailed case evaluations and status reports
• Negotiate settlements when appropriate

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active member in good standing of The Florida Bar
• Minimum 1 year of insurance defense/general liability litigation experience
• Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances preferred
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to independently manage deadlines and multiple cases
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
