We are seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join a premier Midwest defense firm’s civil litigation team. Expect high-quality, sophisticated trial work in General Liability, Personal Injury Defense, and Professional Liability matters, with leading trial leaders and extensive deposition and motion practice.

Responsibilities include managing case files through resolution, drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court hearings and arbitrations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of insurance defense or civil litigation experience.
• Active bar license in good standing with the State Bar of Illinois.
• Strong legal writing abilities, courtroom confidence, deposition experience, and self-motivation to manage case files effectively.

Job description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join the civil litigation team of a premier, highly respected Midwest defense firm.

This role offers high-quality, sophisticated trial work. You will manage and litigate defense cases across General Liability, Personal Injury Defense, and Professional Liability matters. Working directly with recognized trial leaders, you will handle substantive case responsibilities including court appearances, witness and expert depositions, dispositive motion practice, and settlement negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an active case file load in insurance defense, general liability, personal injury, and professional liability litigation from assignment through resolution.
• Draft persuasive pleadings, summary judgment motions, discovery requests/responses, and pretrial motions.
• Conduct and defend depositions of fact witnesses, plaintiffs, and medical/technical experts.
• Represent clients in court hearings, pre-trial conferences, arbitrations, and mediations.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2+years of insurance defense or civil litigation experience (General Liability, Personal Injury, or Professional Liability exposure preferred).

• Skills: Strong legal writing abilities, courtroom confidence, deposition experience, and self-motivation to manage case files effectively.
• Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $110,000 - $140,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
