Job summary

The Law Office of Elliott Kanter APC in San Diego, CA is seeking an entrepreneurial Associate Attorney with a passion for plaintiff advocacy. You will manage cases from inception to resolution, conduct discovery, and take depositions while collaborating with a high-performing team to deliver outstanding results.

Requirements include a JD, active CA Bar license, 3+ years of plaintiff-side civil litigation, strong writing and communication, and the ability to contribute to firm growth.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of plaintiff-side civil litigation experience.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions.
  • Strong legal writing, analytical and advocacy skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to contribute to firm growth.
  • Ability to independently manage cases and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Bonus: Spanish-speaking.
  • Bonus: Experience with CasePeer, Microsoft Teams and AI tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage plaintiff litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research, discovery, draft pleadings and motions.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Prepare clients, witnesses and experts for depositions, hearings and trial.
  • Develop case strategy with firm leadership.
  • Handle court appearances, hearings, mediations, and conferences.
  • Maintain regular client communication and service.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to move cases forward.
  • Utilize legal tech and case management systems to manage caseloads.
  • Contribute to business development and client relationships.

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) degree
