Job description

We are seeking a Real Estate Associate Attorney to join an established and growing real estate practice. This position is ideal for an attorney with 3–5 years of substantive, hands‑on experience in real estate law, particularly in real estate development, master planned communities, restrictive covenants, plats, development agreements, and property owners’ associations.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling sophisticated real estate development matters and be comfortable working with a high degree of independence. Strong drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide practical legal guidance throughout the development lifecycle are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate plats, development agreements, entitlement documents, and related real estate agreements.
  • Prepare, review, and amend restrictive covenants for residential, commercial, and mixed‑use developments.
  • Draft and revise governing documents for master planned communities, including declarations, bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Form and advise nonprofit organizations and property owners’ associations, including preparation of formation and corporate governance documents.
  • Advise developers on legal matters throughout all phases of real estate development projects.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to real estate development and property matters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, governmental entities, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple matters and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and other legal professionals.
Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Texas — required.
  • 3–5 years of substantive real estate law experience.
  • Direct experience with real estate development and master planned communities.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing complex legal documents with minimal supervision.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience practicing in a law firm environment.
  • Experience with large‑scale residential, commercial, or mixed‑use development projects.
  • Familiarity with property owners’ associations and community governance matters.
