Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, as per supervisor’s instructions.
• Supervise clients during activities to ensure safety.
• Maintain compliance with all policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as state and federal laws.
• Report significant changes in the client’s environment, behavior, or circumstances to the supervisor.
• Monitor the client’s environment for safety hazards and take appropriate actions.

Qualifications

• Must have a cheerful demeanor and a helpful attitude, even in stressful situations.
• Ability to carry out duties effectively, cooperate, and support fellow workers.
• Personal assistance services as defined in TAC 40 Chapter 97, performed by an unlicensed person at least 18 years old with demonstrated competency.
• Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions.
• Complete required training.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds continuously.
• Physical requirements include bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, climbing, kneeling, walking, and standing over 75% of the shift; sitting about 25%; standing, stooping, bending, and climbing about 55%; walking about 20%.
• Recognize differences in sounds, exercise patience, tact, and confidentiality.
• Work under minimal supervision, recognizing that errors may have serious consequences.
• Recognize changes in a client’s appearance, attitude, and condition.
