Responsibilities

• Support attendance by ensuring students develop good attendance practices and that parents support attendance requirements.
• Initiate attendance referrals for students with chronic absenteeism.
• Visit students' residences to promote attendance and maintain records.
• Advise parents of their legal responsibility to ensure school attendance.
• Prepare reports of any noted conditions that may impact safety, welfare or education of the student.
• Collaborate with building principals to monitor attendance in school, academic, work and extracurricular activities.
• Confer with school staff regarding chronically absent/tardy students.
• Collate monthly attendance reports from all schools.
• Counsel students regarding absenteeism and tardiness to identify underlying problems.
• Submit written reports to principals and Family Coordinator regarding court actions; maintain records.
• Obtain signatures on five day notices and return copies within ten days.
• Investigate challenges to students' legal residences per law and policy.
• Attend required professional development and meetings.
• Protect confidentiality of records and information.
