Job summary
Alignerr seeks an Atmospheric Science Expert to help build and train cutting-edge AI models by designing real-world atmospheric problems that push AI reasoning to its limits.
This fully remote, flexible hourly contract role is for researchers with a strong scientific foundation, enabling impactful work while maintaining your own schedule. No prior AI experience required, just rigorous science.
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Atmospheric Science, Climate Science, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Expertise in climate modeling, atmospheric dynamics, meteorology, ecology, or sustainability science.
- Proficient in Python or R for research and analysis.
- Exceptional written communication skills and ability to translate complex science into clear problem statements.
- Fluent in English.
Responsibilities
- Develop, solve, and review advanced atmospheric science problems grounded in real-world relevance.
- Apply expertise in climate modeling, meteorology, ecology, or sustainability science to design complex problem sets.
- Evaluate AI-generated scientific reasoning for accuracy, depth, and scientific integrity.
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to improve AI scientific reasoning.
- Ensure scientific rigor, clarity, and depth across all deliverables.
- Work independently on task-based assignments with flexible scheduling.

- Develop, solve, and review advanced atmospheric science problems grounded in real-world relevance
- Apply your expertise in climate modeling, meteorology, ecology, or sustainability to design complex, rigorous problem sets
- Evaluate AI-generated scientific reasoning for accuracy, depth, and scientific integrity
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to push the quality of AI scientific reasoning forward
- Ensure scientific rigor, clarity, and depth across all deliverables
- Work independently on task-based assignments fully on your own schedule
- Master's or PhD in Atmospheric Science, Climate Science, Environmental Science, or a closely related field
- Deep expertise in at least one of: climate modeling, atmospheric dynamics, meteorology, ecology, or sustainability science
- Comfortable coding in Python or R for research or quantitative analysis
- Exceptional written communication skills — you can translate complex science into clear, structured problem statements
- Naturally detail-oriented with a high standard for scientific accuracy
- Fluent in English
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or AI evaluation workflows
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or curriculum development
- Familiarity with AI tools or language models as an end user
- Experience communicating science to non-specialist audiences
