Job summary

The Athletic Aide I at the University of Chicago's Athletics & Recreation department maintains and sets up athletic facilities and department equipment for activities and events. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Responsibilities include set-up/teardown for indoor/outdoor activities, field and court line work, infield maintenance, equipment repair, vehicle operation, and assisting with deliveries and workshop organization.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write and follow oral/written instructions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor, students, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Sets-up/takes-down for indoor and outdoor activities and events (fences, bleachers, benches, scoreboards, PA systems, nets, etc.).
• Measures/paints field lines on outdoor fields and tapes court lines indoors.
• Maintains softball/baseball infields and long jump/steeplechase pits; rakes mounds/bases/pits and waters areas.
• Assembles/maintains equipment; informs supervisor of repairs needed.
• Operates department vehicles (vans, marker units, utility vehicles) and performs basic vehicle maintenance.
• Cleans fitness equipment and manages cleaning supplies; helps with deliveries and errands.
• Maintains and organizes three workshops and multiple storage areas.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
