Job summary

The Assistant Athletics Director of Communications & Operations at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will support external affairs by managing media relations, marketing, branding, and staff oversight for women’s basketball, softball, bowling, and cross country.

This role requires long hours including evenings and weekends, supervising Sports Information Assistants, coordinating game-day operations, social media management, and collaboration with the Associate Athletics Director to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven (7) years of professional athletics, payroll, finance, accounting, or project management experience.
• Two (2) years of experience supervising or managing professional staff.
• Knowledge of project management of large-scale and complex athletics-related projects.
• Knowledge of the principles of management and leadership.
• Excellent oral and written communication and ability to work on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main media liaison for assigned sports.
• Provide social media and website management as well as game-day operations within the athletic department.
• Work closely with the Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs in promoting and coordinating operations for the athletic program.
• Provide administrative and game-day/event coverage as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Attend all contests as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director.
