Job summary

University of North Texas Athletics is seeking an experienced, strategic leader to serve as Assistant or Associate Athletic Director for Communications. Reporting directly to the Senior Associate AD for External Relations, this role leads Communications, Sports Information, and Media Relations across Mean Green Athletics.

The position oversees the Communications/SID unit, public relations and crisis communications, and shapes UNT Athletics’ storytelling to fans, media, and national college

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Communications & Media Relations: oversee public relations and crisis management communications for the athletics department; develop strategic communications plans and serve as the primary external communications contact for student‑athletes, coaches, and administrators.
• Sports Information & Game Day Operations: oversee the Communications/SID unit, coordinate media operations for home events, and ensure timely game results and press materials.
• Leadership & Department Collaboration: partner with leadership across marketing, creative services, and broadcasting; hire, develop, and lead staff.
