Job summary

Northwestern University’s Academic Services team seeks an Assistant/Associate Director to support ~500 varsity student-athletes across 21 sports. You will advise, mentor, and advocate to help them excel academically, navigate Division I demands, and engage with the Northwestern community.

You’ll work with coaches and campus partners to provide resources, track progress, and promote student-athlete welfare. A non-traditional schedule including evenings and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 1–3 years in student services or collegiate athletics preferred.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with student-athletes, coaches and campus partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to groups and individuals.

Responsibilities

• Advise and mentor student-athletes in two varsity sports, fostering academic achievement and personal growth.
• Guide first-year students through transition to college with regular progress checks.
• Ensure academic compliance with NCAA/Big Ten and university requirements.
