University of Portland is seeking an Athletic Training Student Assistant to support the athletic training room operations for Division 1 athletes. You will participate in event coverage, daily room activities, and assist Certified Athletic Trainers, team physicians, and the team physical therapist in treatment and care of student athletes.

The role of Athletic Training Student Assistant is critical to the running of University of Portland Athletic Training Room. It will be a high-paced sports medicine learning opportunity to work with Division 1 athletes. This will include event coverage, daily athletic training room activities, and assisting Certified Athletic Trainers, team Physicians (scribing/managing clinic), and team Physical Therapist (observation/assisting) in treatment and care of student athletes. Athletic Training Student Workers are expected to be intrinsically motivated to take advantage of the opportunities to learn from the staff. Observing, listening, and asking questions demonstrate a strong desire to learn and are expected behaviors. When dealing with student-athletes Athletic Training Student Assistants must be discreet and tactful. We are looking for energetic, self-motivated, reliable, professional, and team-oriented individuals. Preferred qualities are, but not limited to, experience in high school athletic training course, interest in medical fields ( ATC , PT, OT, SLP , Physician, PA, MA, Scribe, etc.), or anyone interested in athletics/former athlete (everyone is an athlete!). Current CPR and AED certification is required.
