Sports Medicine Technologist - Athletic Trainer

Seeking a New York State Certified Athletic Trainer. Open to new graduates in Sports Medicine or Athletic Training.

Position Details:

1. Location: Elmira, NY (Beautiful Finger Lakes Region)
2. Type: Full-time, Direct Hire
3. Compensation: $55,000 - $88,608 per year, based on experience

Role Overview:

The athletic trainer manages healthcare for athletes, including first aid, injury evaluation, modalities, prevention, rehabilitation, and referrals, in accordance with current contracts and under the supervision of the Orthopedic Service Line Director.

Responsibilities include:

1. Preventing, recognizing, assessing, treating, and reconditioning athletic injuries as per NATA standards.
2. Covering practices, games, and related events, possibly including weekends and evenings.
3. Developing treatment programs with modalities, exercises, and conditioning based on evaluations and physician input.
4. Preparing athletes for treatment, applying procedures, and assessing response to modify programs as needed.
5. Referring athletes for diagnostics and follow-up, coordinating appointments, and ensuring immediate access to services.
6. Communicating with athletes, families, coaches, and physicians regarding athlete status, maintaining confidentiality.
7. Proper taping, bracing, fitting equipment, and maintaining medical records and injury logs.
8. Organizing physicals and assisting with sports medicine program development and onboarding.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
2. Current BOC certification as an Athletic Trainer.
3. Preferred 1-2 years of experience in sports training.
4. CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
