Job summary

USA Health in Mobile, AL seeks an Athletic Trainer to deliver clinical care across clinics under a physician’s direction. This role focuses on musculoskeletal assessment, rehabilitation, and patient education within a busy sports medicine framework.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services for USA Health clinics under the direction of a designated physician.
• Evaluates and treats medical and musculoskeletal pathology patients per BOC and Alabama licensing standards.
• Assist with clinic pre-visit planning, coordination of care, new patient triage, and surgical case organization as assigned.
• Obtain medical history including injury history, primary complaint, pain level, and functional status.
• Perform physical examinations including ROM, strength testing, sensation testing, and functional assessments.
• Order diagnostic studies or referrals under the direction of the attending physician.
• Provide initial rehabilitation exercises and education on proper performance.
• Fit patients with splints, braces, and other equipment and educate on proper use.
• Remove sutures/staples and perform dressing changes post-surgery as directed.
• Aide physician in preparing patients for injections and scheduling follow-ups.

Responsibilities

• This position will provide athletic training services for USA Health clinics under the direction of a designated physician
• Evaluates and treats medical and musculoskeletal pathology patients consistent with the scope and practice of athletic training clinical competencies as defined by the BOC and the State of Alabama Athletic Training Credentialing Board
• In addition to direct patient care, the incumbent would be responsible for one or all the following: clinic pre-visit planning, coordination of care, new patient triage, surgical case organization, surgical circulation, and surgical first assist as assigned by the Program Manager
• Obtains medical history for each patient seen that must include but is not limited to a thorough history of injury or condition, a primary complaint, a pain level assessment, past medical history, and quality of life and how it is affected
• Performs an appropriate physical examination, which includes but is not limited to range of motion testing, strength and/or manual muscle testing, sensation testing, palpation, functional testing, ligamentous testing, and other special tests as needed
• Orders diagnostic studies or other referrals under the direction of the attending physician such as radiographs, MRIs, EMG studies, CT scans, and ultrasounds
• Provides initial rehabilitation exercises and the instruction, demonstration, and feedback on patient performance of the exercises as directed by the attending physician
• Fits the patient with splints, crutches, braces, wraps, and other various durable medical equipment as directed by the attending physician and educates the patient on the appropriate use of the equipment provided
• Removes sutures or staples and provides dressing changes to post‑surgical patients as directed by the attending physician
• Aides the physician in preparing patients for injections that will be performed by the attending physician
• Schedules patient follow‑up appointments
• Regular and prompt attendance
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
• Related duties as required
